The ESAIC Scientific Committee (SC) is seeking to recruit new forum chairs, to fill the positions opening in the following Scientific Forums:
Forum 1 – General Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine
For the chair position in this forum, we are looking for an anaesthesiologist with a specific interest in at least one of the following topics: general anaesthesiology, perioperative medicine, regional and ambulatory anaesthesia.
Forum 2: Patients à (co-)chair with a focus on Intensive Care Medicine
In this forum, we are looking for a specialist in Intensive Care Medicine or an anaesthesiologist working primarily in the ICU. Together, both chairs of Forum 2 coordinate the activities of the following subgroups:
- the Obstetric Patient;
- the Paediatric Patient;
- the Elderly Patient;
- the Trauma Patient (Critical Emergency Medicine);
- the Patient with Metabolic Disease, Obesity or Cancer;
- Acute and Chronic Pain and Palliative Medicine.
Forum 4: Therapies à (co-)chair with a focus on Anaesthesiology
In this forum, we are looking for an anaesthesiologist with a specific interest in at least one of the topics covered by the Forum. Together, both chairs of Forum 4 coordinate the activities of the following subgroups:
- Pharmacology;
- Airway management;
- Fluid, transfusion, haemostasis.
Forum 5: Devices and Technology
For the chair position in this forum, we are looking for a specialist in either Anaesthesiology or Intensive Care Medicine with a specific interest in innovations in devices and technology (AI, robots, VR, telemedicine, biomarkers, etc.).
Forum 6: Ethics
For the chair position in this forum, we are looking for a specialist in either Anaesthesiology or Intensive Care Medicine with a specific interest in this forum topic.
NOTE: Scientific Forums 1, 5 and 6 are single-chair forums, while Forum 2, 3 and 4 are co-chaired by one specialist dedicated to Anaesthesiology and one specialist dedicated to Intensive Care Medicine. All forum chairs are members of the ESAIC Scientific Committee as representatives of their forum and speciality.
Role
The Scientific Forums provide a European platform for contact and exchange of ideas and scientific initiatives within their specific field of interest with the aim of producing scientific content and initiatives for conferences and educational programmes organised by the ESAIC. The ESAIC Scientific Committee has the following function:
- Developing the scientific programme of ESAIC Scientific Meetings. The scientific programme is put together based on the suggestions made by the expert groups working in the ‘Scientific Forums’.
- Proposing educational material/content for masterclasses, webinars, podcasts and other educational projects organised by the ESAIC.
- Assessing abstracts submitted for presentation at Euroanaesthesia.
- Carrying out other tasks as decided by the ESAIC Board.
Requirements
Only ESAIC active and affiliate members (with a 2-year membership requirement) can apply for chair positions in the scientific committee.
Applicants must have a proven track record in the field they are applying for and should be apt to give lectures and act as speakers in relevant ESAIC scientific and educational programmes, including Euroanaesthesia.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Applicants willing to become chair of a Scientific Forum should make sure they can dedicate sufficient time to this commitment.
Term of office
The term of office is 3 years, plus 1 year as Past Chair*, subject to availability and commitment to the chair tasks.
*Only applicable to single-chair forums (1, 5, 6).
Members of the Forum can apply for the chair position as far as the cumulated term of office (member + chair) does not exceed 7 years.
