The ESAIC Simulation Committee (SimC) is seeking to recruit a new committee Chairperson. The appointment will commence on 01 January 2024.


The committee chair plays an important role in the activities of the ESAIC and the SimC. The main duties are:

  • Lead the committee and its engagement with its initiatives;
  • Develop and present committee’s long-term strategy;
  • Develop the activities of the SimC;
  • Work in cooperation with other ESAIC committees to develop simulation initiatives;
  • To provide suggestions for topics for the Simulation programme for the Euroanaesthesia Congress;
  • Actively participate in projects of the SimC.

The SimC is a sub-committee of the Education and Training Committee. The SimC Chair sits as an ex-officio member of the Education and Training Committee.

The Chair will be required to attend meetings of the SimC. These meetings can be online and physical meetings. Where necessary, travel expenses and accommodation required to attend these meetings are provided according to the standard ESAIC reimbursement policy.

Applicants must hold up-to-date Active or Affiliate ESAIC membership at the time of application for a minimum of the two previous years, up to and including the date of the application deadline.


Applications are encouraged from all ESAIC members who meet the following criteria.

An applicant should:

  • Hold Active or Affiliate ESAIC membership for the past 2 years
  • Have participated in ESAIC activities,
  • Understand the educational evidence and value of simulation,
  • Be an author of several publications on simulation,
  • Hold a Professorship/Associate Professorship related to Education/Simulation or be a Director of a Simulation Centre (this criterion is an advantage)
  • Meet all criteria of ESAIC Simulation Committee Members.

NB: Criteria for Simulation Committee Members

  • Have experience as faculty in simulation centre;
  • Have knowledge in pedagogy of training and education in simulation;
  • Be an author or co-author of publications on simulation;
  • Have made previous or current ESAIC contributions;
  • Be fluent in English.


Term of Office

The term of office of the elected chair is three years (from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026), followed by one year as Past Chair.

  • Short outline (maximum one page of A4) of your goals and perspective that you could contribute as a chair of the SimC;
  • Declaration of conflict of interest for the last 3 years.

Applications must be received no later than midnight on 25 June 2023. An appointment will be made by the ESAIC Board following recommendations by the Nominations Committee.  Announcements are normally made by the end of October.
